Do Gamers Turn to Be Gamblers?

Video games seem to be a harmless form of digital playing. But now, since it’s quarantine, this tends to be the only activity to do while staying home.  There are video games that usually allow gamers to stake their real money. This is a way for them to support their fictional game character.

And this is where the problem begins…

Some video game attitudes may take gamers to turn into problem gamblers without their awareness.

One study conducted at the University of York shows that there are around 20% of players perform some activities that are related to both gaming and gambling.  These are those activities that cater to the wagering of tokens, gaming with real money, and social casinos.

Silent health risk to the public

There are about 18.5% of participants who played games that show off gambling habits. With this, it is already good to conclude that the said habits may already create a new risk to the health of the public. Moreover, such video games also surpass the rules created in monitoring gambling websites.

Video games policies

It is actually the responsibility of the government to take its toll in having a firmer stance over games. They usually focus on games that charge the gamers cash and give off mystery compared to the actual rewards.
